PETE MALICKI

Producer, Writer

Pete is the founder of The Monologue Project and a multi-award-winning playwright with over 300 productions of his plays done around the world. He is the Festival Director of Short+Sweet Sydney, the world's largest short play festival, and the Coordinator of a script development program called Crash Test Drama. He currently works as a Literary Manager, script editor, non-fiction editor, director and creative writing teacher. Pete wrote all of the monologues on this website.


MIKAELA FRANCO

Performer, AFI-Nominated Actress

Mikaela Franco is an AFI and IF nominated actor. She has 16 years experience in the theatre and film industry, and has been performing professionally for the past five years. She has previously trained with Actors Centre Australia, Australian Institute of Music (BMus) and NIDA. Mikaela's previous works include: Growing Up (Theatre work and documentary), Sweeney ToddCarmenSweet Marshal (Film - AFI, IF nomination). Mikaela is currently working with The Monologue Project team to bring original Australian works to life.

ATLAS ADAMS

World record holding improviser

Atlas Adams is an improv champion, winner of multiple Short+Sweet awards, and NIDA-trained screen actor. He currently stars in Pete Boone Private Eye on Foxtel, is the face of the University of Sydney's 2014 student recruitment ads, and hosts events for Applause Entertainment. He is best known for his eccentric characters, rich voice, and tall stature. He aims to star in blockbuster films and double his own record for world's longest improvised play.

ELIZA ST JOHN

Performer, Award-Winning actress


An active advocate for theatre-in-education, Eliza St John formalised her studies at The Actor’s Centre Australia. At the impressionable age of seven, her family moved from Sydney to live in Jakarta, Indonesia, where her eyes were opened to the wonders of Asia and her love of travel sparked. From co-creating the comedic web series FAYMIS in LA to performing Pete Malicki’s award-winning one-woman show V.D. in Chennai, India, where she won Best Actress in an international play festival, Eliza continues to journey around the world, sharing her strong belief in the universal power of story, love and laughter.


JESS HEATH

Performer, OnStage Actress

Jess is a young actress from Sydney who is currently studying full-time at Victorian College of the Arts, one of the nation's top acting schools. In 2013, she performed Frenemy for The Monologue Project before earning an OnStage nomination for her group performance. She performed this in February 2014, before heading down to VCA.

EMMA ZAIA

Performer

Emma is currently working as a cast member of Sydney Interactive Theatre and is in her third year at The Actors College of Theatre and Television. In 2013 she co-directed, co-wrote, co-produced and starred in the short film Bobbleheads and Love letters. She has been part of the Tweatre Improvised theatre cast since 2012 and her history of improvisation and stage acting date back to 2006.

MATT THOMSON

Performer

Matt has appeared in Ladders By the SeaThe HomecomingThe Marvellous Boy, numerous short-play productions such as Girl’s Backstage ChoicesBest of Playtime, and Short+Sweet including Lifetime (S+S Gala Final Sydney 2010) as short films including Wolf at the Door (Fantastic Planet 2013 People’s Choice winner), Lovely Bits (Sexy International Film Festival) and VOX (BooHoo Festival finalist). Also a musician/singer/songwriter, Matt composed and performed the music for the sell-out season of indie theatre hit Macondo’s Clothesline.

SARAH NORTH

Performer

Sarah studied at The Actors Studio Australia and has performed in several short films, including Unbirthday where she played a loner who helps a girl who’s been stood up by her friends. She also played Berta, the hapless, smitten-with-Henry maid in a theatre production of Frankenstein 1930.

LOUISE WILDMAN

Performer

EBONY HALLIDAY

Performer

Ebony is a dedicated performance practitioner with 8+ years of experience in stage production, short films, music videos and street performance art. A graduate of Actors College of Theatre and Television 2012, Ebony is currently working with Horizon Theatre on different Puppetry and movement shows. She has become a regular in the Short+Sweet festivals. Her most enjoyable performances include playing Magenta in an audience participation version of the Rocky Horror Picture Show which ran for over 2 years, and playing the Mother in Anton Chekhov's The Proposal at ACTT.

KAROLINE O'SULLIVAN

Performer

Karoline Rose O’Sullivan, an award-winning actress, graduated from UCC with an honours degree in Drama & Theatre Studies in 2005. Theatre credits include, Kleinman in Death, Helena in Look Back in Anger, Flo in Come And Go, Sarah in Dark Week, Rebecca in The Crucible, Angelique in La Corbiere, Lady Macbeth in Macbeth, She in A Play on Two Chairs, and Steph in Sex, Death & Chocolate. Karoline also has various film credits. Karoline is a graduate of The Gaiety School of Acting and has trained with PlayBack Theatre in Melbourne and Keith Johnstone.

NAT BACKHOUSE

Performer

Nat Barry Backhouse is a performing artist specialising in acting, singing and dancing. With an Advanced Diploma of Arts in Stage and Screen Acting from the Actors College of Theatre and Television, Nat has ambitions in entertaining on film and on stage. An MEAA member, Nat's life ambition is to perform in the musical Rent at the West End in London.

HAYLEY FLOWERS

Performer

Hayley Flowers is a graduate from The University of Wollongong, completing a Bachelor of Performance Degree. Hayley has also completed a Bachelor of Teaching in Drama and English (Secondary) through Charles Sturt University. Hayley has been in Angels in America, playing the role of Hannah Pitt directed by Tim Maddock, and Factory Space Theatre's opening season show Sex, Death and Chocolate directed by Roz Riley. Hayley recently performed her own comedy piece Move at the New Theatre as a part of the 2013 Sydney Fringe Festival. Hayley is currently in LA working with Actors Connection for the pilot season.
